American Presence Post - Lyon

Welcome to the webpages of the American Presence Post (APP) Lyon.  Our Presence Post permits building greater understanding and friendship between the people of the United States and the people of Rhone-Alpes, Auvergne, and Burgundy, about 25 percent of the geographical area of France. 

The three missions of APP Lyon are:

1. To provide assistance to American citizens (notarials, passports, reports of birth, local lawyers, doctors, and translators, …): The office provides limited consular services for American citizens only and those who need a notarial for a U.S.-based service.  All visa questions and applications must be referred to the U.S. Citizen Services in Paris.  The office is closed on French and American holidays.
2. To explain American policy, society and culture: The Consul and APP staff make and arrange for frequent speaking appearances throughout the consular district to explain issues of interest and explain American government, society, values, and economy. Forums include civic organizations, university gatherings, talk shows on radio and television, schools, ceremonies commemorating the two World Wars, and other official events.
3. To support American business by helping them to enter French market, providing information to French companies looking for American goods and services, etc.
