Report Birth Abroad
You may make an appointment in Lyon to submit your child’s application for a report of birth abroad by calling 04 78 38 33 03.
Personal appearances by minor children and parents are required for all birth registrations in order to obtain a Consular Report of Birth Abroad for U.S. Citizen children born in France. Please refer to the Paris website for further information on forms and required documents.
Processing Times for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad
All applications for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad initiated in Lyon are transmitted to the U.S. Embassy in Paris for processing. Applications accepted in Lyon take approximately one week longer to be processed than the ones submitted directly to Paris. If an application for a report of birth in Paris take two weeks for processing and delivery, then the same application would take 3-4 weeks if initiated in Lyon.
