February 3, 2012 – Green Design Jury at Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Lyon

As part of an external jury, we awarded the first annual Green Design Prize to the green architects of tomorrow at Lyon’s National School of Architecture (ENSAL) on February 3. The prize, launched by APP Lyon as a means of highlighting the U.S. commitment to innovation and the environment, snowballed into an effort supported by Greater Lyon, the American Chamber of Commerce and the Rhone-Alpes Region, all of whom participated in the jury to evaluate competing visions for the ecological and ergonomic redevelopment of the center of the town of Bourgoin-Jallieu.  The Prize, featuring a laser-cut wooden trophy emblazoned with the names of the U.S. Consulate, ENSAL, and the Grands Ateliers de l’Isle d’Abeau, represented a semester of intense work on a green design program that we helped launch with a grant, and which is now a permanent part of ENSAL’s curriculum.
