Consular Services

Consular services in Lyon are available by appointment only for persons residing or traveling in the areas of Rhône-Alpes, Auvergne and Bourgogne. Please contact the APP Lyon at telephone 04 78 38 33 03 to schedule an appointment.  Citizens who need assistance from other areas of France such as Marseille and/or Toulouse may contact the APP Lyon as we remain open to receiving cases from outside our region on an “as available” basis. APP Lyon is closed on all American and French holidays. 

APP Lyon provides limited passport and citizenship services for American citizens and birth registrations for U.S. citizen children born abroad.  Notarial and authentication services are provided for U.S. and non-American citizens for documents to be used in the United States, and for U.S. citizens for administrative purposes in France such as marriage.

Note:  APP Lyon does not have a switchboard or telephone attendants.  Only one staff member handles services for American citizens.  If that employee is assisting citizens with pre-scheduled appointments, or is on the phone assisting citizens with their queries, then a voice mail system will engage.  Please leave a specific message, including a day-time telephone number, and your call will be returned as quickly as possible.
